About Us
Patrick J Woods Insurance Agency was established in 1898 by Patrick J. Woods and his brother William J. Woods. Patrick and William ran the business until their retirement in the mid-1930’s. Their sister, Mary L. Woods, joined the agency and worked side by side with her brothers as they created a foundation for one of the longest standing insurance agencies in the area. Upon the retirement of her brothers, Mary and her brother William’s son, John P. Woods, took over the business and continued to service the insurance needs of the Peabody community. After the passing of John P. Woods in 1967, his son, William J. Woods Sr., William’s brother Patrick J. Woods, and John’s wife, Agnes, stepped in to run the agency. Patrick J. Woods has since retired and William J. Woods brings his years of experience and knowledge to the office a couple of days a week.
William’s son, William (Billy) J. Woods Jr., joined his father’s business the spring of 1999. William Jr. watched and learned from his father and uncle and now carries on as the fourth generation to own and operate the Patrick J. Woods Insurance Agency. Billy’s oldest sister, Mary Ellen (Woods) Dalfanso, joined the agency in late 2020 and works side by side with Billy to keep the family tradition alive and well.
Throughout the 123 year history, Peabody’s oldest independent insurance agency has been very fortunate to have exceptional and dedicated employees. Their loyalty and the tight knit Woods family are why we plan on servicing the needs of our clients for another 123 years.
